Catfish doldrums...

Usually by this time I have hooked into about a dozen catfish. So far, I haven't caught squat. I've seen pictures posted, but as for me and folks I see fishing for catfish right now, we are all just waiting for the bite. After ice out, i tried shad that washed up on shore. Nothing. Then I used stinkbait and deadbait back in March and April in the form of homemade recipes, chicken liver, turkey gizzards and shrimp. Nothing. Ever since May started, I have been using cutbait, and chicken liver still. Sunfish is what I have been using for cutbait. Sometimes I cut them up into small pieces, sometimes I just hook them under the dorsal fin and let them run around. Nothing.

As I got back today from Halleck Pond using both chicken liver and sunfish cutbait, and coming up empty handed, not even a nibble. I wonder to myself, what in the world are these catfish doing right now?

All I really had to do was complain enough, lol
