    Default Frustrated.......

This is getting old. I own HB, Garmin & Lowrance. To say I am frustrated with HB is an under statement. I am not a field tester for HB. I will now try to go back to 5.840 and see what happens.

    My results with upgrade 6.610.

Went back to 6.250 and got this snapshot yesterday.

    I agree Don...

Maybe the programmers are realizing that the unit processor can only process a certain amount of data...

So they "steal" data processing capability from image rendering to run new accessories and fix hardware and networking issues..

I'm keeping 6.310 on my 1197 and not loading anything 6.6xx or higher ...

My AS GPS HS antenna will have to sit idle and not used until HB fixes these images...

1 favorable thing in this terrible image issue discussion is that bad images are affecting several of the bass boys too and not just the "slow trollers whining"...

Mine also...As you can see the 6.250 didn't help so I will keep going backwards until I find a version that is acceptable.

I wonder if the new units in stores now have bad software in them also?

I ended up putting the HDS 7 touch on my console and 597 on the bow. Probably will not worry about updates until something starts screwing up.

    Hi,
    I'm getting a new 998 hd,
How can I tell what version of software is on it?
Can I go back to an earlier version if I want to?

    thanks

Go to the main menu system (two presses of the MENU button from most Views) and look under the Views menu tab for the Self Test View and set it to “Visible”. Then exit out of the menus and scroll through the available Views until you come to the Self Test View and it will show the software version in about the middle of the screen.

Installing a software version older than what the unit was built with could possibly render your unit inoperable, requiring it to be sent back to Humminbird to be reprogrammed. Never load an older version of software than what the unit was originally built with.

Maybe it's just my inexperience with these, but to me, it appears that there was a difference in either boat speed or chart speed. All settings appear the same, but the top image seems "stretched"
