Default mounting a side image transducer?

I want to upgrade a 597 unit to a hummingbird si unit. It will be on tracker grizzly 1860 aluminum boat. Is the lower unit on my motor going to block my left side image? I keep hearing people say nothing can be next to the transducer. The only place to put it is beside the motor. I don't want to spend 2k and it not work right.

That would depend on which Humminbird Si unit you get, how much room there is between your transom and lower unit and whether you have hydraulic trim or not.

Thinking 898 or 998. I have tilt on my motor but no jack plate. Distance from motor to transducer is about 24".

The HDSi transducer that is used with the 898/998 units only needs about seven inches of clearance, so unless you have something else sticking off the transom of your boat you should be good for no Si sonar blockage.

you can always raise the lower unit up while using the SI, when planed out, the ducer will probably be out of the water anyways or be a distorted signal on the HU. Gonna drill holes in the hull or glue it on ??
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
