Smithville 5-15-13

[BC in KC]

On the water by 7 AM. Fished coves north of Trimble to start the day, found fish in 3-5 fow, 18-24 inches down, minnow under bobber. Had 8 keepers by 9:30, with at least 20 dinks mixed in, then it shut off, no fish for an hour. I decided to move and try to find them deeper, dip some trees. I settled on a row of trees just off Trimble lake, in 6-10 fow. Nothing on the trees in 10 fow, but I found one magic tree in 6 fow. Off it I caught at least 10 dinks, 2 catfish, one snapping turtle, and 8 huge crappie all around 12 inches. There were no 9-10 inch crappie at all, just huge ones. The biggest I cleaned was a 13 inch male. Quite a few females in there. I fished the crowded cove southwest of W bridge for about an hour just for fun, and caught dinks every time I soaked my minnow. It was an awesome day.

Nice job, I was there this evening and took home 9, all males over 10. There were a lot of dinks, probly caught and release bout 30 crappies. Tight lines!
