    Default Wireing trolling motor batteries

A friend of mine wired a second battery on his 12 volt trolling motor.
He hooked positive to positive and neg. to neg. to connect the two batteries. He said that he could not get it to work like that. I thought that was the proper way to connect. Right or wrong

    Sounds right to me.
Same voltage, twice the amps (available). Motor will draw only what it requires (amps).

Will the TM not run at all with the two batteries connected as you discribe? If so sounds like there may be a wire that came loose or a fuse that has blown. Take a test light or a voltmeter and check at the plug in for the TM. Make sure do not connect postive to negative that would make it 24 volts and burn TM up real quick.

Until I went to a 24 volt system, I ran my motor like that for years and my fishing pard still does.
