I had a 9.8 with electric start. Lightest motor in it's class. Ran great and tough as nails. Only sold it as I moved from 14' to 16' and it didn't have enough to get on plane with 2 guys.
well ole Duckhunter you are alive and well.. ???? My johnson need a new carb so I'm giving some thought to a new Tohatsu /nissan motor $2200 approx ves a evenrude $2900. I've always had the electric start that's a must.. good too hear from you. Bob isn't doing too well. New heart not working too good but 6 years ain't bad..
I have a larger one, but don't have a single regret.
i meant to ask bout your brother. hate to hear he's not doing too good. you'll love the nissan or tohatsu. i've seen duck hunters try to destroy nissans on the st. francis river and they keep on going. i have an 18 tohatsu and also a 15 hp electric start johnson.
Very good motors. I have had three over the years and used and abused them duck hunting. I dont think that you can tear one up.
Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.

From what I understand the Tohatsu, Nissan and Mercury motors are all the same from 20 hp down, but the Tohatsu is about $200 cheaper than the Nissan
around here.
