    Default Rod Question

I am trying to figure out if I should go ahead and buy the St. Croix 7' ultralight premierPS70ULF2. Is there a rod out on the market that is just as good but does not cost as much. I can afford to get one but would like to save some money if I can. Thanks.

I am very content with a 7' 6" Bass Pro micro lite, around $40.

Does your BPS do well for jigging from a dock and casting? I have no boat so shore and dock fishing is all I have. Thanks.

I cast slip bobbers with jigs or just the plain jig. Have used it tight lining but usually switch to a 10 ft Sam Heaton when they go deep which isn't until mid August in Maine.

BPS Flueger Trion combo in 7' med. I use it for pulling cranks ,jigging , and there is no back lash in the reel.

If possible, I'd handle that rod and as many similar rods as I could. I didn't like the action of the 7' and 7.5' St. Croix UL rods, but I LOVED the six-footer.

In my opinion 7 ft is too long for casting all day ,if fishing from boat I would use a 5&1/2 to 6 ft for casting and will be find for jigging on a dock also.

Is the st. croix truimph pretty good, how does it compare to the premiere? Thanks.

The Triumph is a great rod. I would recommend the 6' lite power fast action. You say you do a lot of bank and shore fishing, don't go with a 7' there always seems to be a tree or a bush right behind you when casting a 7 footer from the bank.
