Default Fisherman killed on KY Lake

I got a call about this from somebody who heard it over a police scanner. It didn't sound good initially and turned out to be terrible. Eggners Ferry Bridge crosses the lake on Hwy68 and is the bridge that was partially knocked down a year ago by a commercial boat. Terrible tragedy. The lake is 4 feet above summer pool right now and full of floating debris. This boat had to hit a concrete cross support that would normally be well above water level. They were fishing a bass tournament.

    Prayers to his family.

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A Jackson, Missouri man died Thursday in a boating accident on Kentucky Lake, under Eggners Ferry Bridge.

Marshall County Deputy Coroner Barry Taylor says 51-year-old Timothy Allan Clitpard died from blunt force trauma.

Garry Clark with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife says Clitpard, along with another person, were on a boat heading north, when the boat hit an underwater structure that's part of the bridge.

Clark says that forced the motor to flip up into the boat, striking the 51-year-old and killing him.

    The boat's operator was unharmed.

The accident caused a traffic back up for miles across the bridge.

Traffic has since been cleared, and is moving across the bridge.

    Earlier story:

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A boat accident on a local lake backed up traffic early Thursday evening.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Kentucky Lake, near the Eggners Ferry Bridge.

There's no word on what may have caused the crash, or if anyone was injured.

The crash did cause a traffic back up for miles across the bridge.

Traffic has since been cleared, and is moving across the bridge.

So sorry to hear. Prayers sent to the family and driver of the boat. I cant imagine the guilt he must feel, when should have been a fun day fishing. So sad.
