    Default Championship

Was it decided that a kid could fish the championship even if said kid did not fish 3 tourneys? I think it was discussed but can't remember

ATM is correct. The rule is clear and says everyone. Age isn't a factor when qualifying for the championship but everyone is welcome to join us at Butla.

    14) Championship Qualification. New rule: To qualify to fish the championship, everyone must fish at least three (3) regular FJ tournaments. In the event that a person fishes with multiple partners and qualifies for the championship, that person can choose anyone that has fished at three regular FJ’s to fish with them in the championship. In the event that a co-angler (not boat operator) fishes three (3) regular season tournaments with another person, that co-angler also qualifies and can bring a boat and fish as an angler in the championship, however, that person's partner (if he chooses to have one) would also have to have fished three regular FJ’s. Regular entry fees of $40.00 per boat plus an optional big fish pot of $10.00 will apply to the championship.

I agree on the kid part 100%.....As long as they are fishing and not there to up the adults pole count. Maybe the committe can address this and revise this rule for our up coming seasons. Also think there should be a age cap on the kid rule that way some jack leg does not bring there 25 yr kid and try to pull the he/she is my legal kid. Just my 2¢

The rules were determined at the beginning of the season and we have welcomed any child that wanted to fish with us during the entire season and not just the championship. They can still come to Butla and have a big time and possibibly catch some huge fish. The kid discussion is a deep one. Do you consider a 4 year old and a seventeen year old the same because they are both minors legally? It's a complicated discussion that needs to be explored more during the off season.
