Powder Mixing Question

If I wanted to "create" a translucent color, like say X, is there a way to mix X with Y and X would end up translucent? It has been suggested that I should just purchase the Translucent (or candy) color I want, but I'm interested in some colors that I haven't seen in a "Candy" offering. Any input is appreciated.

I can tell you you're going to end up using A LOT of clear and not all colors will work. I've tried it with black, olive and blue so far and none really came out the way I wanted - on the olive I think it was because it was a mixed color. If you try it use just enough color to tint the clear - little bits at a time!!!
