    Default Bait Pump

Bought a Bait Pump a couple of months ago. Had not used it. Bought it to use in Florida this winter as I dislike minnows and spider rigging. Decided to give it a test run today. Started with a jig tipped with a worm and caught lots of fish. 90% White Perch 10% Crappie. Switched to a tube & Bait Pump with Crappie Nibbles. Still caught lots of fish 90% Crappie 10% White Perch. I was anchored in the same spot using both rigs. The Catfish liked the Nibbles too.

The White Perch is a member of the temperate bass family. Similar in appearance to the White Bass but a seperate species.

Yes, thanks also for clearing that up, down here, most of us call a white crappie a "white perch".
You can't fish with a hung line!

Wink Watch out for those "nicknames"

All three of these fish are known, in various parts of the country, as "White Perch", either by their given identity name ... or local "Nickname" :

    The White Perch:

    The common freshwater Drum:

    The White Crappie:

Funny thing is ........ none of these fish are actually "Perch"

The White Perch is a "morone" (temperate bass).
The Freshwater Drum is the only freshwater species in the genus Aplodinotus.
The White Crappie is in the sunfish family (family Centrarchidae).

    ........ cp

Down here in Cajun country we call them Gaspar goo.
Many folks swear that they are the best for sauce piquant, and baking. There's a few guest that I take fishing that never throw them back.
I don't keep them now, but when my dad was alive he would eat them in onion and tomato gravies.

I don't "know" much of anything :p .... I'm no "expert" at anything, either. I know that, and admit that ... which is why I always Google up info on things I'm not sure of, or have limited experience with :D ... cp
