Need some tips for fishing Logan Martin lake. Tried shooting docks trolling and drift fishing with jigs. Spent all day and caught just 2. Fished out of lake side marina

While there are a zillion ways to catch them its impossible to say what works day to day. If I had one day, one rod, one jig size and color to fish Logan Martin and was fishing for food to survive (crappie), I would do the following:

1/32 oz Chartruese yellow jig head
Bobby Garland chartruese baby shad jig body
6# test line on a ultra light 6 ft rod

Target docks on main channel or creeks in 10-20 ft of water. Focus on docks with floating bases and pontoons. Just drop jigs slowly between the dock and the boat and set the hook at the slightest tap. Experiment with depths till you find a pattern. I have caught them with all sorts of colors but have the most confidence in the chartruese. I will tell you that the tap is the key, it isnt always a hit you associate with a big one. Sometimes the line quits sinking or just starts moving. If in doubt set the hook with a sharp pop of the wrist. I guarantee the fish are there and are eating, its all in the way you feed them. Welcome to the board, you should get some good information on here. I fished Logan Martin last Saturday for 4 hours and caught 32 spider rigging cover along creek channels.

There are many techniques and with practice all catch fish, but to try and tackle all at once can be overwhelming and non productive.. My advice is to pick one and stick with it .. This time of year crappie are spawning, moving in and out of the shallow's . If your fishing Logan Martin ( and I have been) stick with them docks, try the creeks , the sloughs the main channel, try different colors but stick with it all day...Good Luck!!!!

I echo the comment "slow down". Patiently go at the areas you catch one.

I'm just using jigs, but if I want to go for blood I also would use both, but only use minnows a couple of times a year for straight down fishing. And when I do use minnows, when the very first water temps hit the strike zone in the fall, I always outdo the jig fishermen.

Larry David has a good point. I can almost always outdo jigs with minnows but rarely go home with nothing using jigs.
