    Hi Brad,
Have not fished Freeman or Shafer in 20 yrs. I just returned from Ky Lake and learned about spider rigging. Are there any crappie worth catching on either lake. I usually go down to Racoon for crappie but Monticello is only 30 minutes vs 2 hours to Racoon.

Right now is typically a good time to shoot docks in the coves on Freeman, unfortunately with the amount of rain we have received lately going out now would be a crap shoot. I'm no help with Shafer, I steer clear of it.

Trevor, curious as why you steer clear of Shafer. I live closer to Freeman but normally fish Shafer because I can't seem to ever find fish at Freeman. Do you fish at all around bluewater? Do you find crappie around there?

Yes i use to live in Lafayette moved to Florida 15years ago . Fish lake freeman crappie in the early spring fished the canels with jigs or minnows usually around boat lifts and docks.there are a lot of canels coves on the lake .in the early spring when the lake is highand the dam is open sometimes the crappie are force to move off cover on main lake because of the current.THey like the down trees close to deep water just before coves . Use to fish a lot of bass tournaments on these lakes they are very good in the spring . I did we'll in the tournaments they very good lake for smallmouth and largemouth I Have a few good spots on these lake that I use do real well.
