Default Spider Rigging in South Louisiana - Help

All the bayous and lakes around here have a average depth of 4-8'. The bayous have trees all along the sides. Can you spider rig in this shallow water and how would you set up. Single jig with no added weight? Just about all the stucture is along the bank. Once the water warms up these fish act like they leave. I for some reason fell they move back off the bank. But there is no structure for them to move to. any Ideas?

I don't fish with 8 poles whice is what you would consider spider rigging. In the summer I fish henderson often and slow troll with 2 or 4 12' bnm jig poles.Tie two 1/8 oz jigheads with your favorite plastic on each rod with loop knots. Sometimes I will add a heavy split shot between the jigs if the wind is bad to keep the line straight. It is hard to understand why they leave all the structure along the banks. I think they are just more comfortable in the deeper cooler water and suspend on drop offs. 90% of the time I don't fish any deeper than 6 foot in 8-12 fow. I figured this out on accident one summer I was fishing stumps along the bank and was not catching anything but bream. Got aggravated and just casted a tube jig under a cork about 5' deep. Right away caught a 12" sacalait, been fishing along the drop offs even since then. I think that is the key is to fish drop offs and not just flat bottoms.

Do not forget about the grass we have in the canals. I have been wondering about that setup for a while to.

i fish farm reservoirs most of the time and they are usually 4-8 ft deep. when i spider rig i usually use a jig (roadrunner with a minnow or just a slaters jig with minnow). i also use a 1.4 oz weight about a foot above a minnow. one can easily fish 4' water with this set-up. while i've never used a bobber while spider rigging, i can see the value of such set-up. just try a few different methods and i'm sure you'll find one that works for you. good luck.
