anyone have any theories about why jigs catch bigger fish? im not asking if you think they do here because i know its fact. i see it in the live wells all the time here. minnow guys usually have smaller average on fish in the box.
my conclusion is this. the bigger fish hold closer to cover or command the best spots. the jiggers(at least the best ones) get up close and personal. this puts them in contact with more "big" fish.
so why do you think this is so?
I believe this to be true also. I caught 20 keepers and 19 were off minnows. The one I caught on a jig was the biggest of them all.
The "minnow boys" must be out fishing, or they'd be all over this thread.
I mainly fish jigs but minnows catch huge fish as well. They both have a place. I love how you said its a fact though, lol.

I don't know but I went fishing these past couple of days doing spider rig and it seems like crappies prefer minnow over jigs like 5 to 1. I didn't really notice any size difference between minnows or jig.
