    Default batteries

I know this has been discussed before. I am looking to buy the best trolling motor batteries. Is the Optima TF1800 what I am looking for. We fish from Sept 15 thru april 15 and went 120 times last year, during that time. We wear out a regular deep cycle set every year. We have an on board charger and the boat stays in a boat shed. HELP

I was wondering which battery would be the best one for trolling and from the research that I came up with was the Delco voyager series, im not sure what the cost of these things are, but seem to be made especially for trolling and long periods of drawing power from the batteries.
If you want, here is a link where you can read a littel about it, read the Choosing A Battery section on this page, and the second link is from the ac delco website. Good luck with your issue.

You can't fish with a hung line!

I went thru the same thing a while back. Lots of research. Wound up with a pair of Delco Voyager M30HMF batteries. Total cost was $225.94 for the pair. No regrets so far. BTW, they are totally guaranteed for 18 months and then pro-rated for 36.

    Thumbs down

I invested in an Optima last year. I use it a lot but it seems to have lost some power. If I had it to do over again, I would probably buy a less expensive battery, the Optima just didn't last as long as I thought it would.

If you check the Bass Fishing Home Page (Google it), you'll find the same question answered many times... Usually Voyager or Trojan, with Optima a favorite of the weight conscious. My Trojans have given good service. They're sometimes hard to find but you can run a search for their website and find a dealer in your area.

if you arent gettin but a years service out of a set of deep cycles something's wrong. over charging, under chargin, letting the water evaporate all will shorten the life of a battery. id suspect the chargin system/method even with just two year battery life.
