    Default Question about crappie spawn

fished reelfoot yesterday and caught 20 something. pretty much every one was a female holding eggs. we were fishing anywhere from 50-150 yards off the bank. Does this mean the males are already on the trees and grass? If not, where are they? or was it just a coincidence we caught nothing but females?

I've always caught males first up along the bank. An old timer told me one time if you start seeing the turtles sunning along the bank the males were up building the beds. Idk how true that is. But usually I catch the males up first then I catch the females a little deeper.

Yes, the males should be in the spawning areas... The females will stay close, but in the deeper water till the time is right.
