I use a 6'6 medium light most of the time for casting. I use a 8' for a bobber time and a 12' for dipping.
What length of rods does everyone usually use
for minnows?
jigs?
thanks

Honestly, I use the ultralight stuff almost exclusively. Whether I'm vertical jigging, or casting a jig towards a dead-fall, I use a 5'6" or 6' rod. I have to admit though, that I was looking at some of the 8' rods yesterday as I was shopping. I've watched guys using them a few times, and it's piqued my interest for sure.

8 or 10 footer..10 footer most of the time... Pair it with a light spinning reel.

usually a 10fter for me. I like the way a longer rod takes up the slack when setting the hook. same rod for dippin in the brush and jigging deep water.
i have and use a 10 medium and 12 ft med heavy wally marshall. i prefer the 10 simply due to weight. after a while the 12 ft med heavy gets heavy.
10' mostly. 12' once in a while
12's for dippin.............. 12-14's for riggin.
