Side imaging

Has anyone used the lowrance 5x dsi or the mark 5 dsi i am wanting to get one of these dont know much about the dsi's

First off ... neither one of those are "side imaging" units. They are down scan units ... which means they send a fan shaped sonar ping out, that takes a thin slice of the water column & turns that into a picture image of what's below. They do not have the traditional cone shaped 2d unit sonar ping. They don't/won't show fish as "arches".

Mark 5 is a b/w unit ... no GPS ... no chart screen ... 200kHz frequency sonar ... water temp reading

Lowrance Elite 5x DSI is a color unit ... no GPS/Chart ... 455/800kHz frequency sonar ... water temp reading

Lowrance Elite 5DSI is a color unit, with GPS & Chart, 455/800kHz frequency sonar, speed & water temp reading
