I don't know about them but the I love the old stand by ''Ugly Sticks''
It seems to me that there was a post a little while ago about the idea of "Frugal Fishing Gear." Yesterday I picked up a Berkley Cherrywood baitcasting rod for $18.99. It's a 6'6" Medium action. To be honest, I bought it because it matched my baitcasting reel. (red) I've wanted a Cherrywood for some time, just never got around to buying one. It feels good in hand and for what it's worth it has a nice wiggle to it. I'm looking forward to testing it out. Any thoughts?

I have several Berkly Cherrywood spinning rods and I love them....... they are very good rods and I like them better than some of the more expensive rods that I own.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!
I bought a 5'6" lite action one a few weeks ago. I bought it to replace the Berkley Lightning rod that i stepped on. Cant tell much difference in the 2, other than the cherrywood was half the price. So far i like it.
I have had four cherrywoods great action, academy sports closed them out for $6.99 last year. They will break at the tip, I did a search on the internet and found a lot of folks had that problem. I did learn to be careful and used the last one quite a while. Love the action shooting docks but hitting to dock, freeing a hung jig etc the tip will break about 6 to 8 inchs. I use a ul ugly stik 5' 6" not as good feel but do any thing you want and, hit the dock, get hung up just pull and the rod will stay with you. Ugly stik not for everyone but it works for me.
I love mine, Ive got a couple of them. 5.5' great for casting and dock pitching! Like them better than some of my more costly rods.
