Default Cold & Late Spring this year, what effect on crappie spawn

Curious to what your opinions are on the effects a cold & late spring will have on crappie fishing this year? Have black crappie started spawning on Kentucky Lake yet? They must be about ready to bust.

I have just read a post from birdman who just got back from sippi and he said the crappies was having eggs come out of them when he was landing them.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

They sure are ready. Just need some sun shine and warmer temps. They are about to bust they so full. They are moving shallow in a lot of places because of the soltices of the sun is telling them it is time. I'm just afraid we may loose a lot this year if they start laying them in this cold. Not a expert by any stretch of the imagination but seems a lot wouldn't hatch.

they have been like that here as well in NY. For about a month they have been bloated and full of eggs. Last year at this time outside temps were in the 70-80's and this year total opposite, only highs of 40 and lows of 20's. Most of our lakes are still cover with ice in center ,but shorelines are shot. Need about a week of warm to get the shorelines open more. Cant wait on jury duty right now, but bring on the slabs.
