Took a drive past my home water today; 98% solid ice cover from all I could see. One small spot had open water along the shore. Kinda surprised me where it was since it doesn't see much sun until later in the year. No dark looking punky spots, no significant open areas along the shore even.
Temps this last week have been just above freezing but down in the low 20's and even the upper teens at night.
I guess Mother Nature is evening things out for our very mild winter last year and late arrival of actual winter weather back in December.

A couple of the big lakes are opening up some but the protected areas are still ice and snow bound.

Winter is really getting old at this stage of March. I'm keeping an eye on the latest storm brewing to see if its going to hit us again here in Southern New England.

Scheduled opening day I think is April 20, the 3rd Saturday in April. We may need ice-breaking bow protectors at this rate!
