    Default Auto-Pilot and Co-Pilot?

    Howdy,

I am trying to do a little research before I purchase my next trolling motor. I am now leaning towards Minn-Kota because they offer co-pilot (remote control) and auto pilot.

Have any of you used auto pilot or co-pilot (remote) to control your boat while fishing? How do you advantage from these systems? I am trying to make sure it is not a feature that looks good on paper but no one really uses it.

I have used it..And I like it..You can be in any part of the boat and run the trolling motor.Just put it on your wrist and go..I think you would like it too.

If you are going to be doing a lot of trolling, the auto pilot is an absolute must. I highly recommend it. The co-pilot is a nice hands free feature as well.

I have the Co-Pilot and don't know how I did things without it before.
It's great for trolling because you don't have to keep a foot on the pedal.
It's great when you have to spend a lot of time taking fish off for others or rigging their rods or what have you.

You just turn it on, point it in the direction you want to go and do whatever else you want to do.

It's also good when nature calls. You can keep the boat moving and take care of business from the back of the boat. :d

I have heard rumors that Minn Kota is going to make some improvements,
changes to the AP/CP for '07 - can anyone who is "in the know" elaborate?
I am interested in one too, and wondering if it would be worth waiting
till the new ones are released...

I haved used auto pilot for two year now and it works great. I troll a lot with my 8 yr old grandson and it allows me to assist him as needed.

That is correct. The old minnkotas are being replaced. The new motor is called the Terrova. Its going to be available in 55(12 volt), 80(24 volt) and 101 (36 volt) motors.Biggest changes are a new easier stow and deploy, and new designed foot pedal, similar to the old Genesis pedal. Its also going to be available with optional autopilot and unversal sonar 2 .Motors will be available in October for the general public.PJ

    Default Anyone help me?

I've got an '84 Minn Kota model 599W 12/24 volt trolling motor. (Came with the boat). How many of you use the 24 volt system and when? I'm trying to decide if I should purchase one or two batteries for. I'm headed for Kentucky Lake the first week in Oct. and will fishing the creeks.

    Hi,
I have the co-pilot and love it. Never got the hang of using the foot pedal.
Looked like a drunk sailor was driving the boat
