Default 2nd Annual Smithville FISH Day

Volunteers needed for 2nd Annual FISH Day at Smithville Lake. April 13, 2013. From 9 am until we run out of trees. Registration begins at 9 am at the Camp Branch Boat Ramps. We will have 3 habitat barges installing huge hardwood brushpiles in the lake. Bring a pair of gloves and a strong back! Last year we were able to put in over 100 trees - Creating over 50 new brushpiles in the lake in 1 day! Please contact me and let me know if you are interested in helping out.

Thanks for posting this Dennis. Count me in. I've done two or three of the smaller scale placements we did earlier with Scott but missed out last year!

Looking forward to it and happy as heck we're not doing it in 100 degree heat like we did a few times before!!

Dang, the forum stalker is going to show up, my wife is out of state for a week I'll have to show up too I guess and help represent CDC! This the kind of post that would benefit from being made a little sticky?
The fishing was so good I thought it was yesterday

I think my calendar is open that day. I'll verify and hopefully show up. I agree, Chris...would be good to get a CDC representation out there.

The pics in the brochure look like spots you’ve fished before?

I went to the spring event last year, and I have to give pops to the MDC and the COE. They bring out a ton of equipment designed specifically for this kind of thing....no messing around with sticks, they put 20-30' trees out with the barges. They put 10-15" cedars out in shallower areas for fry/spawning areas. They have even put out some rock/boulder fields. Hopefully some of the rock will help with the bank erosion, but they are also great fish attractors and cover. I'd like to see all of the regular Smithville crew show up....lol...plenty of work for everyone! They also had activities for the kids last year with fishing and prizes.

Yep last year I couldn’t pick up Joedog’s structure on my graph but I think I found a solution by mounting my transducer on top my baseball cap.
