Coroded Jig Heads

I have a sack of plain jig heads that I have probably had for 15 years. I was going fishing at a local lake and did not want to use my painted heads, so I got out that bag of jigs. They looked like they had been dipped in baby powder. I took a small coffee can and put a good squirt of Dawn dishwashing soap and filled it about a quarter with water and just shook the jigs around in this soulution. Let them sit for about an hour and shook them about three more times. When I poured the water off they were about 98% clean, good as new.

You should coat them with Sally Hansen Hard as Nails now. This will prevent it from happening again.

One good spraying with wd40 when you put them up will stop that, another thing it will do is keep your guns from rusting.

I soak them in white vinegar rinse with cool water dry and they are ready for paint or a coat of Sally Hansens hard as nails.

It's from oxidation. They're fine to use, just make sure you wash your hands after handling them, especially if you have kids around. It's easy for the powder to transfer to food.
