I'm just dying to get my Wind Beater out and see what I can catch in this Hot weather.
C'mon, show me yours:D

I found my #8 Sage from the old Steelhead days, and I'm heading for Smith Lake with it soon. We'll see....

Being Summertime still, I hope you've got a sinking line and flourocarbon leaders :D. I would use a slow sinker because a fast sinker will miss Specks that may be suspended. As soon as the water cools in the Fall, floating lines and long leaders should be okay as the fish move more shallow and also just before, during, and just after the spawn. I don't have any photos of my Speck flies but these are some good ones.

Crappie Candy (http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/fotw2/052801fotw.html) (I tie this fly in yellow chartreuse mostly and a few in green chartreuse)

Cypert's Minnow (http://www.eflytyer.com/patterns/cypert_minnow.html) (In addition to the fly by itself, I sometimes tie this one on a jig type hook so it will jig under a small float on the leader when I'm using my floating line for shallow suspended fish)

Thanks DixieAngler.
That was a boon. I spent two hours going over the flies on all those sites.
Some of them brought back old memories.
I saw the Calcasieu Pig boat, and it reminded me of a Fly fishing club I belonged to in Lake Charles Louisiana.
Ton Nixon was the creator of the Pig boat. He was also the Patriach of our club.
His stories are legends, and very humorous.
Days gone by...

I've got some Salmon flies that might work. They tell me there's a fly sh0p about 20 miles from me, and maybe I'll give that a try as well.
Thanks again for the good sites.

Tom Lentz also has a Speck fly that seems to be very popular. Try this:

The Marabou Miss (http://www.warmwaterflytyer.com/patterns4.asp?page=17)

I haven't had any luck on this particular fly but its probably something I'm doing wrong in the way I'm fishing the fly, not the fly because I hear of a lot of folks that do pretty good on this fly. I'll keep trying this fly though :). Best of luck.
