I'm sure this has been beat to death but do you all think red jig hook help? About a .01 per jig more to poor so cost isnt a factor for most. I notice that from what I've read capps and coleman use minnow hooks that are bronze and their signature road runners are bronze so if they think so they are keeping it under hat. LOL. The minnow hook question got me thinking.
Bottom line do they offer any advantage in your opinion?
Thanks

Depends on what your trying to catch, fish or man?
If you cover the hook with bait, how does the fish see it?
I believe red is the first color to disapear under water.
Having said all that, if it makes you feel more confident, buy them. If your not confident with your lures/bait you wont catch fish.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!
My orders are usually 60pct red 30pct black chrome and the last 10 gold so a good many prefer red and i'm included but i'm starting to take a liking to the black chrome they make a sharp jighead.I completly quit selling the bronze for the simple fact that the finish on the hooks is the worst of the 4 colors{thats why they cost me 25pct less} it will allow the hooks to start rusting as soon as they get wet.

I'm like Bugman. I don't use anything but Sickle hooks and been using them since they first came out. Went to Red when they first came out with them because of all the Hype but found they didn't corrode near as bad. Few months ago read about the black chrome. Got some and really liked them and bought a 1000. They seem to fit mold better and so far no corrosion. May be my imagination but seem to be sharper than the Red if that's possible. Think it's just like jig colors the more confidence you have in something the more fish your going to catch.

fish can't see red string but they can see red hooks? No make sense. when the red rubs off they are gold underneath. not as sharp as bronze either.
IMHO -
Red mono can be seen by fish, until it reaches a depth where the light isn't strong enough to reflect the red color ... then it's perceived as grey/black.
Red hooks can be seen by fish, too. It's just that it's perceived as part of the "bait", so it's only another color in the scheme of colors your bait happens to be.
The "red" color is reflected back from the hook, because the hook is solid/reflective. The "red" color of mono isn't reflected back as strong, because the mono is transparent/translucent. The red hook will look grey/black, too, once it achieves the depth where light isn't penetrating enough to reflect the color.
