    Default Payday!!!

I put this Plastic tree in a few months back with some smaller plastic stake buckets around it, and some wood in a bucket to make it easier to find. Well it shows up on the HB just fine, and it's holding fish. Had a chance to go today for a while, but was out of my element going at noon instead of first light. The crappie I found were small and I would have been hard pressed to put a good sammich together. I did get a good 2 1/2lb spotted bass and a 3.1lb smallmouth on a 1/16 hand tied jig of mine. It was tied to a 4lb rig that's my favorite. I'm so stinkin happy I had to sit on my hands on the way home. Sometimes it all comes together and your time invested is rewarded. And it was over 50 degrees, tough to find here this past week. Water temps are still 44 to 46 so they aren't even staging yet from what I could find. Hope y'all get out.........Skeet.

When the mouth is closed it is in front of the eye on a spot, where a Largemouth the mouth is behind the eye. The tongue also feels like it has a "tooth" on the end of the tongue, rough feeling like sandpaper. The best part is they fight like a Smallmouth, they never quit. Even at boat side. They don't get as big as a Largemouth, but they are fun to catch. In just a while the crappie will move shallower and this spot will be just that much better.

nice! I've never caught a smallmouth and am very jealous. (they don't have them in my part of Louisiana)
I also didn't know how to identify a spotted bass.
    Enjoyed the pics,

Nice fish, congrats! We catch a lot of spots here on Toledo Bend as well. THe are fun fish to catch and you don't see a lot of big ones for sure and a 3# spot is a good one!

That is a great looking attractor you built. Good to hear it has started paying off. We have a lot of spotted bass in our lakes now and they are fun to catch. They will nail a crankbait when pulling them.
