Looking Ahead To Open Water

As much as i like ice fishing I sure am looking ahead to the soft side. With some luck it may happen in maybe 3 more weeks in some spots. I was on the top side today makeing holes and it is so much work as we get older. Lots of good and needed exercise but i'm ready for some easy fishing. I have so many slabs waiting for me. They must also be getting antcy.

I'm waiting as well. Here in CT you can panfish year round provided the pond of choice is not stocked with trout. Otherwise, fishing season opens 3rd Saturday of April. Many places today is the last day of the season until April. Lucky for me my favorite water is not stocked so once the ice is off, I'm going to give it a try. Normally I'm not too eager to get out too soon, never had much luck right after ice out but this year I'm going as soon as I can. Work is sure to get in the way, however. Gotta pay the bills somehow.
