Totally confused as to why there are so many Bird posters, and so very few Lowrance. Do the hb users outnumber lowrance by such a large volume, or just more willing to post info? According to the several pages of posts I've read there is just too little of info on lowrance down and side scan. Just saying.

Seems that way here, but Lowrance has a much larger market share overall. I'd say people buy what other people have, so they can read about people using the same or similar units and they know they can get help when they need it. Both work great.

People tend to buy where they get the best warranty and customer service

    Question Maybe ....

... it's because the HB owners have more "problems" to deal with

... it's because HB came out with SI units "first"

... it's because HB units kept the 2d sonar function that so many anglers were familiar with

    ... it's because of brand loyalty ??

... it's because HB Greg is more involved in the discussions about HB's ?

I don't really know ... but, I do know that I have a thread on ONE specific Lowrance unit, that has over 400 replies & over 68,000 views ... so if that thread hadn't been made a sticky, the appearance of having "more HB posts" might not be the case.

I bought because of brand loyalty, but have owned both and my HB just replaced two eagle units

but I think we hear more from HB owners because of all the problems these units have

dont get me wrong I'm a HB fanboi but kinda wish I would have went with lowrance just because of HB's poor marketing ploy ....... to brag up their stuff and not be ready for sales when they say they will be and lack of QC on their updates

but I will always like HB even when they upset me ..... all in all a great product with industry leading tech, but some poor business desions

I would also go as far as to mix units on my boat

You just gotta be "smart" to operate a Lowrance.

I think it's a kind of like Ford vs Chevy thing. I have nothing bad to say about HB stuff...but I personally wouldn't trade any of my Lowrance stuff for it, actually I wouldn't trade my F-250 for a Chevy either.
