Default Which rod action for spider rigging

    Hi,
I am new to the spider rigging scene and am slowly accumulating my rods and reels. Need some advice about rods. When shopping for spider rigging rods I find that some of them have a very light action and others are a lot more stiff. What action do you recommend? I am looking for rods between 10' and 12' and will probably never fish deeper than 30' and rarely ever use more than 1/2 oz sinker.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

CCM, I longline troll only, but the people I have talked with that Spider Rig, Tightline, or Push mainly prefer B&M rods. Then there is the decision on which B&M rod...The PST, The Westpoint, Uncle Bucks Jig Pole, etc.......But it's kinds like the old Ford/Chevy debate...Personally, I like Wally Marshalls for longlining..Just my

i use a mix of the capps and coleman serises and the bucks graphite jig pole for pushing (spider rigging) 1/2 oz or lighter works nicely on either one.....the C&C rods seem to be on the lighter side, but maybe the fact there 16ft amplifies the whippy feeling.....like i said though both handle 1/2 oz down well........good luck in your search

I was in your same boat, couple years ago and after several different brands and talking to GrizzlyJig I went with B'M Crappie Wizard in the 10's and 12 footer
Couldn't be happier there great rods, after a couple friends went out with me they also ordered some. Grizzly will set you up

I'd say 14' or 16' You get 12' and after a few trips out they only look like they are 8' long.

If your just starting and any doubt you may not like it. Get the Pinnacale 4 for 60 at grizzly Jig. 12 is plenty long when starting out. As you learn and if you decide to step up you will have a much better idea of what you want or need. Then you have a set for anyone that might go with you. Get some good thumbar bait cast reels. Grizzly usually has some good ones for around 20.00 that are factory remans. Just transfere them to new poles if you up grade.
