    Default question about spider rig?

If I am spider rigging do I need to have some sort of weight at the bottom to help the line stay vertical? If so, what size do you guys recommend?

Myself I use a 3/4oz. egg sinker. I used to use a 1/2oz. egg sinker but I found that if I was trolling/drifting fairly fast my baits wouldn't stay down very good.

If that is the way you want to rig then yes, some rig with the weight between the two baits. I personally like a 1 oz bank sinker but if it is no wind I use 1/2 oz bank sinkers. A #5 snap swivel at the end of your rig will let you change weights without changing rigs, I use bank sinkers simply because they are cheaper than bass sinkers. Good luck

I use a half ounce sinker.....If your lines are laying back too much with a half oz. then you are trolling way too fast. And anytime you think you are going too slow.....you probably still need to slow down some more.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

i got a question, how in the world do yall fish at speeds over .4 mph with a 1/2oz weight?? We fished all weekend at .4 to .5 cause that is where the fish wanted it and 1/2 oz weights would not have been enuff.

Rees we used 1/4 ounce weights all weekend at .3 up to .5 at Washington. The problem we had was getting those suckers to bite not keeping the baits down.

When I use a lighter weight the line leans back toward the boat making the shallower, knew yall used light weights at Chotard too.

I set up like Rees Guide. On cho\ppy water the rods set better with more weight and a faster drift does keep the lines closer to verticle. On dead still days I go with a 1/2 oz. I prefer my lead on the bottom with either a single or double hook above the weight. I tie on bell sinkers.
