    Default Crappie 2/24/13

We found a few today, 9 gills, 4 redears, and 2 white crappie. If you haven't tried the Bobby Garland Baby Shad yet, YOU SHOULD!! And does anybody know what these small white growths are on the bluegill fins?

I can't tell from the pic, but if it is worms you should see the curled up worm. It looks like a fungus to me.

Alot of times the slime coat gets destroyed from previous catch and release and this allows the bacteria or fungus to latch on.

From other opinions and some pics, it's sounding like a type of worm. Deposited into the water from a bird taking a dump, then it eventually attaches to a fish.

Some of the lakes we fish for bluegills and largemouth bass also have those parasites on them and some of them also have them in the fillets when you cut them open. I know alot of guys that will cut them out cook them up good and eat them up. Well thats them and im a little different I dont Eat fish I just love to catch photo and release them unless I get a wall hanger. BUT im not against anyone coming along and fishing with me or around me that loves to eat fish keeping their limit to enjoy the feast when we get home either. Thats called Hook'em and Cook'em
love to fish and make soft plastics
