Not sure there but here if we catch several small fish and no good ones we move locations. No sense wasting time catching throw backs.
Fished today, and wore them out. Unfortunely, 40 of the 50 of the fish were very small. I know there are a bunch of big crappie in this lake (Mitchell lake, al). Any opinions on why I was only catching the small fish are more than welcome. 53 degree water temp and various depths with minnows and jigs. Good luck to everyone. Here's a picture

Welcome from Alabama. I have fished Lake Mitchell before and itis a VERY DEEP lake. A lot of the larger crappie are in the deeper water. Up the road from you is Logan Martin Dam. I have caught a three pounder out of there. Two Hours or so from you is Guntersville, Neely Henry, Coosa River and Weiss. All are known for good size (17+ inch) crappie. I usually target Neely Henry or G'ville when I go out. Most of the time the active crappie , for me, have been in about 7' on those lakes.
