    Default Southern Spawn?

Are any of you living South starting to experience those Hogs moving towards their spawning beds yet? My trip to Florida last weekend got me thinking about it since there has been some pretty good weather during January.

We have already had a spawn swing at Talquin. There still males in pads now. The full moon should be hot.

The water temperatures in Mid-Arkansas lakes is roughly 51-52 degrees at the surface. Last year, spawning seemed to pick up at about 54 degrees surface temp.

I also surface feed the bream that hang close to my dock. They usually shut down when the water temps hit the 40's. Last night I tossed some floating pellets out, and the boys came up for a lite supper. So I tried again today, and they brought friends along. It's not a feeding frenzy, but they are starting to get hungry. Perhaps a few weeks early for a spawn in these parts.
