Water clarity of lake had winning teams spider riggin the big lake of Johns in 9-
12' water. Cole team used 14-16' Wally
Marshallrods, "skipper jigs", buttercup
colar & white body being color of choice
tipped with "Rosy Red Minnows". Hill team used 16 - 18' BnN rods, Hooker Ice
Jigs (Hill's design)blue / white & aqua
colors, tipped with 2" missouri minnows.

Water temp at launch 63.4 degrees climbing to 67.5 by 2pm, wind out of the
North 6-7 mph, climbing 12-14 by 11am,
gusting at times to 18 mph.

Next tournament, Lake Manatee State
Park Ramp, Bradenton, Fl. 2,580 acres of everything possible a lake could have.
Brush piles, river with sharps bends running through it, dam at one end, concrete hwy bridge splitting upper
lower lakes, lilly pads, grass with a water
level running from 2.5 - 53' deep.

Lake has only one restriction: Watercraft
restricted to 20 ph max. or trolling mtr
only. No exceptions. You may have motor on boat over 20 hp, just cannot start it.

Any chance you guys/gals are releasing your fish after the weigh ins? Seems like a lot of those females should be released...especially with the frequency in which you guys are able to fish. There's my two cents.

98% plus tournament fishermen/gals, are everyday working/retired etc. Fishing these
tournaments are a forum of relaxing, enjoying the comradery and competing on
various lakes, time of year, conditions, etc. At any one tournament an entranant may
weigh only 7 fish in. I would venture to say on any one day just locals and
Florida visitors take more out of lake than we do. In making the schedules up for
each year a lot of thought goes into what lakes are fished involving size & pressure.
There are lakes in Florida that we could fish but pass for several reasons. We also,
work with FWC allowing them information for their various surveys for better fish management. Personally, I fish maybe 1 - 2 times a week, cannot fish each day
due to several reasons.

That is a good point Harold and I appreciate you posting the results and methods of these successful anglers. It's real nice of you to do so.
That being said, we should all probably promote releasing the females this time of year. Please pass on the good genes of the future of these beautiful fish.
