Fishing in "Zona is a bit slow these last few weeks with the past weather. Thought the Crappie bite at Roosevelt was looking up as we picked up 12 a few weeks ago. Then a major front came thru with cold & lot of rain here in the valley along with snow in the mountains. They had been dropping Roosevelt's water level, think it went down to 45% or so full but this storm produced some pretty good inflows bringing it up a bit. But as you probably know, that also brought a lot of dirty runoff & debris into the lake so it turned to chocolate milk. What little bite we had quickly turned off leaving us to hoping for the lake to stabilize.
So it's a slow go on fishing given the water conditions at Alamo, Bartlett & Roosevelt. San Carlos either did or came close to a fish kill due to low water levels & the Tribe has had it closed for a few months now. Here's to hoping for calm weather & lakes to stabilize......
Below is a pic from my last trip to Roosevelt a week ago showing the lake conditions.
