Coosa River Crappie Club Annual Kick-Off Meeting 2-2-2013

Meeting minutes:

We had approximately 50 people to attend our Annual Kick-Off Meeting, held at the H.Dean Buttram Senior Center in Center, Alabama @ 12:00 noon, this past Saturday. We had a good mix of men, women, children, members, and new members in attendance.

The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all, and as usual we had more food than we could eat. Great Job and Thanks to all that brought the delicious food. Gary Kendrick gave the blessing before our meal.

We gave Scott Echols our thanks for the rod holder donations he made for our 2012 Classic on 11-10-2012 at Neely Henry Lake.

Club Rule Changes for 2013:
1. New Tournament fishing hours - 6:30 am - 2:00 pm ( 1 hour shorter ) 1st 4 events.
2. New Weigh-in Time - 2 pm - 3 pm deadline ( one hour earlier )
3. Last 2 tournament hours in fall will be - 7 am - 2:30 pm ( due to DST change )
4. If child 12 yrs. old or younger is in boat, team may use one addition rod for child.
5. A member must fish 4 regular events to qualify for Classic, instead of 3.

Membership Fee remains $ 25 for everyone paying annual dues after Kick-Off Meeting.
Tournament Entrance Fee remains at $ 50 per team - per tournament - except Classic.

* Club agreed to help with a Special Charity event at our March 30 -Weiss Tournament to help Child Cancer Patients. Jason Williams made request.

We will have an open invitation tournament this day - no membership fees will be collected. Members will still earn points. Several new members joined the club at meeting. An updated list of members is attached.

Several of our members have had, or is having health or other issues at this time, keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Just to name a few:

Tim Davis still in recovery from serious body infection and bone joint problems.
Rhonda Steed in recovery from Cancer - we got a good report on her from Leonard S.
Andre' Reynolds house burned over Christmas holidays, & he had heart trouble in 2012.
Terry Whaley's wife Jo is in Huntsville Hospital with heart and lung issues now.
Darla Absher has been ill also. I don't recall all the details.

I had knee surgery my self on 1-2-13 and I am still hobbling around. Getting old sucks,
but it is still better than the other consequences.

I am sure other members, that we are not aware of is having some issues as well. I hope everyone gets well and has good health for many years to come.

Reminder: We are a Crappie USA affiliate club, and we get one invitation per each of our events to their year end Classic. Hopefully, some of our members will fish their Classic and the Crappie Masters Classic; as well as their regular events; and wear something that says Coosa River Crappie Club at their weigh-ins. Be proud of our club and show it.

I like the under 12 extra rod rule. Should encourage more to take their kids and grandkids out without necessarily penalizing the gesture.
