Default A huge thank you to Scott Echols at Hi-Tek

    Hey guys,
For some time now I have been trying to figure out a way to mount, front and rear, spider rig rod holders on my boat without drilling holes in my decks. It took some doing and lots of help from Scott Echols, at Hi-Tek, but I have finally got it done. I thought I would share the results with everyone in case you may have some the same needs. OK, this is the end result:

    Rear:
I purchased a Bass Boat Rod Holder mount from Maynard (nice guy and easy to work with) at Extreme Fishing Concepts. These mounts attach to your boats cleat. These mounts are designed to accommodate Troll Master rod mounts but I wanted to use the Hi-Tek rod holders. I worked with Scott, at Hi-Tek, and he modified one of his brackets so I could attach it to the EFC bracket. It looks great and is extremely solid. Scott was extremely easy to work with and he did a great job as you can see from the attached pics. You will never work with a nicer guy than Scott and he really knows what he is doing. I am very pleased with the EFC mounts.

Front: I mounted a Pedestal Mount from Bee Ready to my front seat pedestal, then mounted one of Scott's bases to the Bee Ready mount. I put soft plastic bumpers under the Bee Ready mount to prevent the metal from marking up my deck. The final results are OK but it is not as sturdy as I hoped. I think I was expecting too much considering the fact I was not mounting Scott's base to something solid. While not perfect I believe it will serve my needs.

I would have used one of the EFC mounts on the front of my boat but the cleats on the front of my boat are far enough back that I would have to look over my shoulder to watch the rods. I really wish they had been a bit more forward so I could have the same set up that I have in the rear of my boat.

If anyone has any questions I will be happy to help in any way I can.

Scott's a pretty inventive fellar. Give him a problem and he'll come up with a solution. Those holders are super.
