RIP Chris Kyle.
Well I get up to find this sad news. A great soldier getting killed by another soldier suffering from PTSD at a charity function. Good grief.
You never know when your time comes. I'm kinda baffled as to why someone suffering PTSD has a gun at a shooting range. Its like taking a pedophile to school with you.
Rest in peace great warrior.
RIP Chris Kyle.
Terrible news for a hero.
PTSD is not a mental disease.

What a tragedy.
Mike
I don't know Mr. Tom. I'm not qualified to say what PTSD is. You know how the median blows everything up. The POS that killed thos two guys might have been kicked by some little Iraqi kid and this traumatized the hail out of him. Maybe the killer almost drowned taking a shower one night.
I hate that this guy dodged no telling how many bullets, and had a price on his head, they called him the Devil of Ramadi, to come home and get killed by this AH
PTSD is a "fear" based disorder not a "violence" based disorder. I have a check list and violence is not part of the evaluation. News organizations hype PTSD when vets are involved to sell newspapers. Lawyers hype PTSD for a defense to maker money off vetrans. Doctors hype PTSD for money. Politicians hype PTSD for self promotion. etc. etc. PTSD is used as a shell game.
When veterans are involved in violent situations, there is, in most cases, an underlying problem such as brain injury, etc. not PTSD.
Veterans suffering from PTSD tend to be self destructive, not outward destructive, thus so many suicides.
I just finished a book call NAM VET by Chuck Dean that billbob sent me. I found myself in this book in several spots. Found billbob too. billbob is my mentor.
First time I ever said anything about this except on a Vet forum. My fat lady at the VA told me to talk. That is it.

then WW2 "shell shock' is simply `cowardess`? funny thing, many plane and auto crash survivers also suffer from "cowardess". surprising that more than a few decorated war heroes from the Civil war on, when put back into combat situations also suffer from sudden "cowardess'. interesting that it turns out that way...from what understand the accused shooter also had 3 tours completed, 2 in Iraq where he was twice wounded and 1 in Aghanistan. was also given atleast 1 award for supposed "bravery' under fire, certainly undeservedly. am CERTAIN he was nothing but a "coward' from day 1, right? and too that the recent comparatively astronomical rates of suicide particularly among our active duty troops are simply signs of "cowardess' and moral "weakness'...right? FIND and READ Theodore Roosevelt`s "To the Man IN the Arena" and THEN tell me he was a "coward"...some of you watch and rewatch "Rambo' FAR too much...certainly a tragedy.
I said nothing of cowards. screw you.

Where did this come from! PTSD creates a fear from the traumatic stress! Unfortunately it is very real. I will not speculate on this particular event as I and everyone else has little facts. Sounds like a premeditated incident to me though. Not PSTD, but who knows can not trust the media.
