    Talking Perry

I fought the wind all day and did well. I used a counter today and it said 65 crappie at the end of the day. I might of had 20 keepers, all were released alive and well to be caught another day, the freezer is still full.

Does anyone have any advice about Clinton? Are there many tree's on the lake. I want trees and alot of them. Where is a good place to launch that is fairly close to lot's of tree's. Directions from Olathe?

Here is one of the keepers.

I'm impressed. Especially since they were pulling water out of Perry. From this site http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/water_...s/lakepool.fct I do see that they were pulling 2000 out on 7/28 and pinched it back to 500 on 7/29 and pinching in down to 25 on 7/30.

Hope you are keeping your eyes open for the tagged crappie the KDWP has put on crappie in Perry, Clinton, Hillsdale & Melvern. Don't think they tagged any this year so those tages would now just be looking like a mossy half inch long plastic pieces just below the dorsal fin. If you catch one just clip the tag off and turn it in to KDWP and it is worth from $5 to $100. Usually just $5.

Here is a map link to Clinton Lake http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/clinto...inton_lake.jpg. Hold your cursor on the map and click and it should enlarge. If you go into the two ramps just below the Clinton State Park name on the map you will see trees out from those ramps. From those ramps you can go up Coon Creek or Deer Creek or the Old River Channel which is the Wakarusa. There is standing timber along those channels you can follow from deeper to shallower. Or follow the river channel towards the dam and work deeper trees.

I quess any good luck sentiments on my part aren't needed since you seem to be having very good success with these Kansas crappie.

Thanks guys for the help at Clinton. As far as the spot goes all I want this time of year is trees. If you find the trees you will find the crappie. Don't stay in a spot too long. If you do not get bite in a minute or less move on. The person that hits the most trees will catch the most fish. Is Clinton a better crappie lake than Perry. Any other lakes fairly close to Olathe that I should try. I have already fished Hillsdale. Thanks

    Hef
You might check out Louisburg Middle Creek. http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/fis...g_middle_creek

This is a 281 acre state fishing lake where there is no recreational boating so there won't be any PWC buzzing around.

I'm not recomending this as a "good" crappie fishing lake, only that is does have trees and people do crappie fish there. I used to bass fish there quite a bit but now I only catfish there.

Just take Highway 69 south out of Overland Park and go east on 335th St. for 1/4 mile(the first intersection) then south where the road ends at the lake.

    Cool

Thanks LBM. Anyone done any good at Louisburg fishing for crappie. It just might be a sleeper lake for crappie. I saw that there is no length limit and you can keep 50. Probaly alot of small ones.

Off the subject, do you know anyone that services Motorguide trolling motors near Olathe? Talk at ya later.

    Thumbs up

    Chatt,

I noticed your email address has jccc in it. Do you go to school or work at JCCC? I work for BNSF Railway and I am an instructor at our training center that is located on the campus of JCCC. I remember seeing a truck decked out with guide service and such on the side in the parking lot. Is that you?
