motor on small sail boat ?

hello .. ive built a puddle duck . a 4x8 sail boat for use on truman lake.
i would like to add a small outboard . say a 2hp ..
the law says . no title or registration for sail boats under 12 foot... so all i need to do is register the motor ?

I think you should call the MO Department of Revenue. I am not totally sure but I think once you put any kind of motor on any boat it becomes a motorized boat and the boat and motor will have to be registered.

I forgot to mention you can call the highway patrol and they can tell you since they combined the water patrol and highway patrol together.

They can stop you for infractions of the law on land or water and can issue tickets on both.
