Default Bobby Garland Baby Shad jig head

I'm sure this has been discussed in the past but i would like input as to the best jig head for the BG babby shad,
barb or no barb, style, and weight for casting of jigging

I use plain, ball head with collar. Some will tell it differently, but I don't feel in any way it matters.

weedless ball head with collar is what i use for everthing but trolling....... look up nightprowler on the Ohio boards he has some with a bait keeper type hook on it that holds the plastic on real well

The Bobby Garland folks have designed their own head for this bait a little pricey but will balance the bait real well also the glow heads work great for us its not the glow effect we are after it is the color of the head in the water which a glow white has a greenish tent in clear to stained water not a pro but this has worked for us if we can,t find or run out of the"1/8 oz" bbg head we use a minnow type head. This is what we have confidence in and seems to catch more and a little better quality crappie for us hope this helps.Bobby Garland makes some outstanding fish catching baits!!!!

Default This is what I use.

I use these on all my Bobby Garland type baits. I have caught over 50 fish from one of these baits in particular. Ronny makes both of these and is a CDC sponsor!

    I use 1/16oz weedless ballhead jigs w/retainer barb ... unpainted ... #2 Aberdeen hook ... Y shaped weed guard

I have them custom made by Grousefly (aka Paul Mullins, owner/operator of P&S Custom Tackle, Vicco Ky). They are the bottom jig in this picture :

I use the other jighead pictured, as well. And my current stock of the Y-guard style jigheads, have clear Y-guards ... and not the black one, as pictured here. Though, I cannot say with any conviction that the guard color has made any +/- difference in catch rate.

I use the pony head or roadrunner style, mainly because that is the mold I have.
