That is a big debate but I favor wooden stakebeds , driven or affixed to pallets.

plastic will work . you need to sand it so alga will build up quicker . only draw back to plastic is it does not show up on fish finders like wood or bamboo . use a gps to spot it .hooks wilnot hang into plastic and will last forever .

both work, but the wood draws the fish in faster.......... been testing all of the things that work best for over the past two years and brush piles work best for us, but we hang up once inawhile but we don't care when we can get a limit out of one pile...... worth the hang ups for us, but easy to find on a depth finder, so you would have help fishing them some days......

I guess it's better to mix up different sizes of either one or put more of the smaller ones together?

Wood is best, especially in lakes that have a lot of natural wood cover. Plastic/PVC works fine in lakes that are lacking in natural cover. If you want to keep your beds hidden, go with several small beds instead of a few large ones. JMO.

Put out all the plastic you want, just put a couple of pieces of brush nearby and you'll always be able to find it. I had put some plastic I put out with one bucket with wood in it and it worked as planned, and held fish within 3 weeks. Foil tape also helps you find it, but others can too.

Since you have both,i would put the plastic in with the wood, the wood will draw them first ,then when wood goes bad the pvc will keep them their and you still can see the pvc if you turn up sentivite or if you have a si ,the shadow will show up,another advantage of pvc if no wood 2d will show fish
