    Default Big Black Crappie as big as my size 7 tennis shoe


    I was out yesterday in the wind bass fishing with 4 pound test with a Z-Man Elaztech green pumpkin Finesse Shadz and caught this big crappie out off the bank in deeper water with the wind howling. It was as big as my size 7 Nike Tennis Shoe- I had no scale or measuring tape with me. Any idea on how big it was?

    Well, let's see ... my #11 Nike Tennis Shoe is 12" long, so .....
    I'm guessing 8" long, maybe 9" (it does look a bit longer than your shoe, in the pic)

    Measure your shoe length & add ~1" ... you'll be in the ballpark.

    Just measure the fish. It looks about 8 inches to me.

    Looks like at 10 to 11'' Crappie. Appears less than 3/4 lb, just good eater.

    Shoes I have on now are 12's, and about 12.5" long.

    Wiki says yours are just under 10" OP (9.75" to be exact).

    I use a spread hand as a reference, knowing the distance from the end of my thumb to tip of middle finger is 9". Carry a cheap pocket/keychain tape measure if you're travelin' light.
