    Default Smithville 1/17

Put in at the Little Platte. Ice was thick. Looked like around 6-8". As i started out, the ice broke and parted all the way to Shady Hollow Cove. Fishing was OK. Had to weed through a ton of 14", 2 lb crappie to get the 16-20 inchers I was looking for. Fish were thin. Didn't have any over 3 lbs. Ran out of tubes and jig heads. Found some red, #12 circle hooks and chartreuse rubber bands. After tying the new hooks on, got my limit in 8 minutes. For some reason the fish didn't hook themselves, but swam through and got caught in the rubber bands. As I was pulling out, I bumped a tree and heard a thump under my console. Low and behold, I found my wallet that lost I last year that had three months of pay in it. Glad I found it. Can't stand shopping for new wallets. Never can find one that makes my back side slim. Hooked the boat up and headed home. All-in-all, had an OK day at the lake.

Then................................I woke up from my afternoon nap.

I actually had lunch with Dave (Got Crappie) today and went over to his place to see the kitchen remodel he's doing. Great job Dave. Drove around the lake and it is iced up. Attached are some pics that I took. Can't wait for the lake to open up.

Monty, I've noticed the older I get the more windy I become.
