    Default X-ray lead


    Someone gave me alot of sheets of lead out of a xray room they remodeled. Is it any good or safe to use ? Looks very clean and easy to bend.

    Yes it is soft lead, great for pouring all jigs.

    It's great lead to use, most I've seen is pure. The older stuff is just the lead sheets which by your post above is what you have, some of the newer stuff is modeled like plaster board and if you were to get any of this you'd have to smelt it down outside as it stinks when it burns off.

    Been using it for years......even lead from x-ray machines........have to melt down in bigger pot but it's soft lead.

    It really bad stuff to deal with. Need to send it to me or if a large amount I'll come and pick it up for recycling.

    Cut some of it into thin stripes for wrap sinkers.

    I was thinkin the same thing.....Seriously Earl it is some of the best out there i've been using it for a good while and it is easy to work with,if you want rid of some give me a holler.

    Went to dentist today and he gave me about 3lbs from those little mouth x-rays. That stuff works great and is nice and clean.

    I think x-ray lead is not safe to use - it is full of little Xs. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it safely.
