Yes i do minnows on a 1/32 oz. jig and a Light bite (pencil type bobber) when the bite is light in weeds.
Anybody ever just use a jighead with a nightcrawler or minnow? I mean with no artificial plastics? I'm referring to crappie/bluegill fishing. Thanks fellas.

Carl Malz, one of the editors for the old Fishing Facts mag, wrote an entire article about a jig/minnow rig. He said it was his "ace in the hole".
Absolutely !!
My go to for Shellcracker is a black or brown colored jighead with a piece of nightcrawler big enough to cover the hook.
Use plain jigheads, of various sizes & styles, tipped with a minnow ... lots of times, when fishing for Fall Crappie that are holding on deep wood.
I'd "rather" fool them with plastics, but when that's not doing the job ... I will go "live" !!!

A 1/16th jig and minnow will work and work well for crappie. I have used 1/64th jigs tipped with red wigglers for Bluegill with great success too. The key is to fish it slow. When you think you are fishing it slow, then slow it down some more.

We use small jig with wax worm and or crappie nibble to ice fish with.
Lets go soak a line. Pat
same as fishing with a minnow tipped bare hook. I do it all the time, the weight on the hook eleminates the split shot attached above a regular hook.
