I dont know if it will work but it was worth a shot. Just bought a 207 Ranger cherokee. The carpet color had been bleached out by being outside. I bought some RIT fabric dye and a small garden sprayer and tried to somewhat restore the carpet. You guys think it will work?

The last pic was after i cleaned it and the first coat of dye in the back corner of the boat. The second pic was of the first coat of dye, i didnt really like the color so i went and bought 3 more bottles and a bottle of black to try and tint it some.

I really dont know what to do at this point.
Rinse the carpet of the excess dye or let it completely dry and leave it. I just dont want to have red colored dye all over everything if the carpet gets wet again.

Water base dye? It will bleed. I say rinse.
    Looks good though.

    Agree...looks good!

I googled a little this AM (out of boredom), and saw where a few had just painted (very light misting) their carpet with cheap $2/can spray bombs. They claimed it's held-up pretty well. Didn't really find any "after" reports of how the dye held-up, though some had mentioned considering using it.

ETA: Just as an FYI, if you copy the info in the very bottom box (says IMG code) and just paste it into your post, it will show your pics.

Its gonna stay inside from now on or atleast in a shed with a cover on it. I know it wont hold up like new carpet but the old bleached color was more than i could stand

I would let it dry completely for a couple of days and then rinse it good with the plug out, and maybe bilge pump running. I'm talking a serious rinse. Dye should be set after it's fully dry for a while, I'm thinking you'll get some excess to rinse out no matter what. The fish don't care what color the rug is, get it slimy!!
