Can't help much as I'm clueless at this point of my crappie education . Here in CT fishing season opens the 3rd Saturday in April for most species, particularly if they stock it with trout. Many ponds aren't stocked and are open year round. You have to check the regs to be sure the water you want to fish is open. Last year it was the 2nd week of May when I first hit the water on my favorite water but could have fished it all year, no closed season.
